Indiana Pacers Team Report – January 12

=== Indiana Pacers Team Report – January 12 ===

(Sports Network) – The Indiana Pacers are coming off an exciting victory on
Tuesday night in Memphis.

Jermaine O’Neal connected on a pair of free throws with 4.6 seconds remaining
in the fourth quarter to lift the Pacers to the 86-85 victory at FedExForum.

O’Neal finished with 35 points and 12 rebounds for Indiana, which put the
brakes on a three-game slide.

Jamaal Tinsley tallied 19 points and Reggie Miller added 10 for the Pacers,
who also bounced back from their worst defeat in 10 years, a 124-89 loss at
Phoenix on Sunday. Jeff Foster chipped in eight points and 12 boards in the
victory.

The contest was tight late in the fourth quarter and when Lorenzen Wright put
home a nice backdoor layup, Memphis led by one with 2:40 remaining in
regulation. However, Foster responded with a layup on the other end and after
a steal, Tinsley’s three-pointer gave the Pacers an 84-80 lead with 1:46 to
play.

But Memphis did not let up, as a clutch three-pointer from Jason Williams
preceded an 18-foot jumper by Pau Gasol that put the Grizzlies back on top,
85-84, with 53 seconds remaining.

After O’Neal fell short on a jumper, Memphis gained control of the rebound but
turned the ball over shortly after, giving Indiana another chance. O’Neal
attempted a shot from the top of the key, but was fouled on the way up with
4.6 seconds remaining. He drained both foul shots for the victory.

Gasol’s last-second attempt from in close fell short.

The Pacers are off until Friday evening when they host the red-hot Phoenix
Suns.
