Rockets sign Rod Strickland

Houston, TX (Sports Network) – The Houston Rockets signed free agent guard Rod
Strickland on Wednesday.

“Rod gives us another experienced veteran in our backcourt,” said general
manager Carroll Dawson. “He will give us more depth, as we fight through an
assortment of injuries.”

The 38-year-old Strickland split time last season with Orlando and Toronto and
averaged 6.3 points and 4.0 assists in 61 games.

Strickland has also enjoyed stints with New York, San Antonio, Portland,
Washington, Miami and Minnesota during his career and has posted averages of
13.4 points and 7.4 assists per contest.

He currently ranks seventh in NBA history with 7,948 assists and 19th all-time
with 1,613 career steals.

In other news, the club released guard Brandin Knight, who made one appearance
after signing a 10-day contract on Sunday.
