(Sports Network) – The Bobcats began their four-game West Coast trip with a
thud on Sunday, falling 101-90 to the Kobe Bryant-less Los Angeles Lakers at
the Staples Center.

Primoz Brezec led the way for Charlotte with 15 points and 10 rebounds as the
Bobcats dropped their 11th game in 12 tries. Kareem Rush netted 13, while
Emeka Okafor scored seven and grabbed 10 rebounds before leaving the game
after he landed on his ankle awkwardly. Okafor is listed as day-to-day.

Jamal Sampson had a career-high 12 rebounds for Charlotte in the loss.

Despite being a rookie, Okafor leads the team in scoring (14.9 ppg),
rebounding (11.1 rpg, 5th-NBA) and blocks (1.46 bpg). Brezec has been a solid
contributor as well with 12.5 points and 6.2 rebounds per contest.

Charlotte did hit 42 percent of its shots in the game, including 5-of-13
(.385) from three-point range. However, the Bobcats mustered just nine points
from the free throw line as compared to 23 for the Lakers. Charlotte was just
9-of-17 (.523) at the foul line.

Charlotte is averaging just 93.5 points per contest (21st-NBA), while
surrendering 99.6 points per game (23rd). The Bobcats, who are just 9-32, are
hitting only 43 percent (26th) from the field, while allowing foes to hit 46.5
percent (28th) of their shots.

The Bobcats have a tough road slate this week which will begin on Tuesday in
Utah. This season, Charlotte is only 1-19 in foreign buildings. Charlotte will
close out its week on back-to-back nights against Portland (Friday) and
Seattle (Saturday) on the road.
