Bobcats Rush and White out with injuries

Charlotte, NC (Sports Network) – Charlotte Bobcats guard Kareem Rush will miss
Tuesday’s contest against the San Antonio Spurs due to back spasms, while
center Jahidi White will sit out the contest with a shoulder injury.

Rush, who has played in 40 combined games with the Lakers and Charlotte, has
averaged 8.0 points per game this season, while White has netted 2.5 points in
17 contests for the 10-34 Bobcats. Charlotte acquired Rush from Los Angeles in
early December in exchange for the club’s second round draft picks in 2005 and
2008.

In other team news, the Bobcats waived Jamal Sampson after the forward/center
struggled with various injuries this season.

Sampson, who played in just 23 of 44 games, started the year on the injured
list with a foot problem and then missed Charlotte’s last three contests
with back spasms.

After Sampson didn’t play in Portland last week, Bobcats head coach Bernie
Bickerstaff elected to send him home instead of letting him stay on the road
trip.

The Bobcats had high hopes with Sampson after the club picked him off the
Lakers’ roster in June. Desperate for a big man, Charlotte flew in the 6′ 11″
Sampson and introduced him to the public, an indication that he was going to
be part of the team’s future growth.

Sampson posted 3.4 points with 5.3 rebounds in 14.3 minutes of action with the
Bobcats. He netted a career-best 10 points against Orlando.
