New York, NY (Sports Network) – Sacramento Kings center Brad Miller was
suspended for one game without pay for improper behavior immediately following
Tuesday night’s loss to the Phoenix Suns at ARCO Arena.
Sacramento trailed 125-123 in the closing seconds when Miller had his layup
attempt blocked by Amare Stoudemire. Miller and several of his teammates
thought that goaltending should have been called and argued vehemently with
Miller then threw his headband and sweatband in disgust. He will miss
Thursday’s contest at Seattle.
The 28-year-old Miller has started all 48 games this season for the Kings and
is averaging 15.6 points and 9.3 rebounds per contest.
Meanwhile, Mike Bibby was fined $15,000 for verbally abusing a referee and
failing to leave the court in a timely manner, while Cuttino Mobley received a
$15,000 fine for publicly criticizing the officials to the media after the
game. Finally, forward Chris Webber was issued a $10,000 fine for kicking the
ball into the stands following the setback.
