Sonics’ Fortson suspended for two games
New York, NY (Sports Network) – Seattle SuperSonics forward Danny Fortson was
suspended for two games without pay by the league on Friday for improper
behavior following his ejection from Thursday’s victory over Sacramento.
Fortson was ejected with 7:09 remaining in the fourth quarter after he picked
up two quick technical fouls. Fortson was upset over some physical play by the
Kings’ Chris Webber and argued with the referees.
After being tossed, he did not leave the court in a timely manner and verbally
abused the officials. To make matters worse, he threw a chair, which teammate
Jerome James fortunately grabbed as it was headed toward the crowd.
Fortson, who is averaging 8.5 points and 6.0 rebounds per contest this season,
will sit out Friday’s game at Phoenix and Sunday’s home contest versus Dallas.
