Okafor comes off IL, leaves game after aggravating ankle injury

Charlotte, NC (Sports Network) – The Charlotte Bobcats activated forward Emeka
Okafor from the injured list prior to Friday’s 97-87 loss against Miami, but
the rookie left the contest in the fourth quarter after re-injuring his
sprained left ankle.

Okafor, who had missed the previous five games after injuring the ankle in a
game versus the Los Angeles Lakers, scored 13 points and grabbed
rebounds in 33 minutes.

However, he was forced to leave the game with around 5 1/2 minutes remaining
after landing on the ankle and aggravating the injury. Okafor, who led
Connecticut to the national championship last season, will be further
evaluated to determine the extent of the injury, although it is not expected
to be serious.

The second overall pick in the 2004 NBA Draft, Okafor has started all 42
games he has played this season and entered Friday’s contest averaging a team-
high 14.9 points and 11.1 boards per contest.

Charlotte also activated forward Bernard Robinson from the injured list, while
placing center Jahidi White on the IL.
