(Sports Network) – Orlando posted a 97-94 victory over the New Orleans
Hornets at TD Waterhouse Centre on Sunday.
Steve Francis scored 22 points and handed out 10 assists to lead the Magic to
the win. Hedo Turkoglu added 22 points off the bench in the winning effort.
Dwight Howard contributed 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Magic, who won for
just the second time in six games. Pat Garrity added 12 points for Orlando and
Grant Hill also had 11.
Orlando has won five of its last six at TD Waterhouse. For the season, the
Magic is 18-6 in its friendly confines.
Orlando hit 49.3 percent from the field in the win, including 3-of-10 (.300)
from three-point range. The Magic drained 22-of-29 (.759) from the charity
stripe as well.
The Magic outrebounded the Hornets, 42-38, but did commit 17 turnovers to help
New Orleans stay in the game.
Recently acquired Doug Christie continues to be a somewhat non-factor for
Orlando, as he is averaging just 6.5 points per contest since the trade.
Christie has been limited to 28.3 minutes per game.
Orlando is eighth in the league in scoring (99.9), while ranking 27th in
points allowed (100.5 ppg). Opponents are shooting just 44.1 percent against
them (11th), including only 32.8 percent (2nd) from three-point range.
The Magic has just one game this week, as it hosts the Los Angeles Clippers on
Tuesday night. Orlando won’t play again until the following Tuesday versus
Indiana at TD Waterhouse Centre.
