Wizards send Walker to IL

New Orleans, LA (Sports Network) – The Washington Wizards placed forward
Samaki Walker on the injured list with a lower back strain prior to Monday’s
game at New Orleans.

Walker, a nine-year veteran who signed with Washington as a free agent in the
offseason, has played in just six games this year and is averaging 1.7 points
and 1.3 points. The former first-round pick had seen action in only one of the
Wizards’ last 10 contests.

To replace Walker on the active roster, the Wizards activated center Peter
John Ramos from the injured list. The rookie has been sidelined since December
1 with right shoulder tendinitis and has appeared in only three games this

Ramos will be available for Monday’s game with the Hornets.
