Steve Francis hit a pair of clutch shots down the stretch to lead the Orlando
Magic over the Los Angeles Clippers, 99-94, at TD Waterhouse Centre. Francis
ended with 16 points for the Magic, who have won two straight and
three of four. Hill, who will be starting for the Eastern Conference in
Sunday’s All-Star Game, shot a blistering 12-of-16 from the field and went
15-of-16 from the free throw line to post his largest scoring output as a
member of the Magic. Elton Brand had 21 points and 10 rebounds for the
Clippers, who have lost six in a row by a combined total of 20 points. Bobby
Simmons added 20 points, as Los Angeles fell to 1-6 on its current NBA-high
nine-game road trip.

Camby added 17 with 10 rebounds in the win. Denver, which trailed by 15 in
the third quarter, also got 16 points and 11 boards from Kenyon Martin and 16
points from DerMarr Johnson. Antoine Walker scored 22 points and grabbed 12
rebounds to lead Atlanta, which has lost 13 of its last 16 games. Tony Delk
contributed 19 points in a losing effort.

Minneapolis, MN (Sports Network) – Kevin Garnett and Michael Olowokandi each
scored 17 points as Minnesota gave Kevin McHale his first victory as a head
coach with an 82-71 decision over New Jersey at the Target Center. Wally
Szczerbiak contributed 14 points for the Timberwolves, who outscored the Nets
24-12 in the third quarter to break open a tight game. Olowokandi added 12
rebounds and Minnesota claimed a 52-41 advantage on the glass to stop a
two-game slide. Vince Carter poured in 32 points for New Jersey but limped
off the court with an apparent ankle injury in the final minute. Ron Mercer
netted 18 points off the bench and Jason Kidd compiled 11 points, 14 assists
and nine rebounds in the loss, the Nets’ third in four games. McHale, the
team’s vice president of basketball operations, took over on an interim
basis after Flip Saunders was fired on Saturday.

at the United Center. Kirk Hinrich finished with 11 points and 12 assists as
the Bulls ended their 11-game losing streak to Sacramento and won for the
second straight time. Luol Deng and Othella Harrington scored 15 points apiece
in the win. Brad Miller led the way for the Kings with 23 points and nine
rebounds, while Mike Bibby ended with 21 points and seven assists in the loss.
Sacramento lost for the fifth time in six games. Cuttino Mobley added 20
points and Chris Webber tallied 15 before fouling out midway through the
fourth quarter.

assists and grabbed six rebounds to lead the Houston Rockets to a 123-93 rout
of the Washington Wizards at the Toyota Center. Yao Ming added 23 points,
nine rebounds and four blocks for the Rockets, who have won eight straight.
Juwan Howard and David Wesley had 18 points apiece for Houston, which used a
huge fourth-quarter run to put the game well out of reach. Antawn Jamison
had 23 points and seven boards for the Wizards, who came up winless on a
three-game road trip. Gilbert Arenas was held to only 11 points, but had nine
assists for Washington, which had won four in a row before going on the road.

and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Dallas over Golden State, 114-107 at The
Arena. Michael Finley finished with 24 points, while Josh Howard tallied 13
points and pulled down 10 boards for the Mavericks, who have won three
straight and four of their last five games overall. Devin Harris chipped in
15 points off the bench in the win. Jason Richardson scored a team-high 26
points and dished out seven assists to lead Golden State, which has now lost
three consecutive and six of seven home games. Speedy Claxton netted 23
points and nine assists, while Derek Fisher, Mickael Pietrus, and Eduardo
