Houston, Milwaukee complete deal
Houston, TX (Sports Network) – The Houston Rockets acquired guard Mike James
and forward Zendon Hamilton from the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday for guard
Reece Gaines and two future second round picks.
“Mike James is a talented point guard who gives us another offensive threat,”
said general manager Carroll Dawson. “We’ve been interested in Mike for
some time now, and we really like the defensive toughness that he brings.”
The Rockets will now likely place guard Bob Sura on the injured list with
a sore back. Sura has missed the team’s last two games and is expected to be
sidelined the next 10 days.
James, who had been coveted all season by Houston, gives the Rockets depth
at the guard position and relieves Milwaukee of the $7.1 million remaining
on his contract.
In 47 games this season for the Bucks, the 30-year-old James averaged 11.4
points and 3.9 assists.
Gaines, meanwhile, has been on the injured list since January 16 with left
patella tendinitis. He has appeared in just 10 games for the Rockets this
season and is averaging 2.6 points-per-game.
