76ers activate Salmons; place Mashburn on injured list

Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) – The Philadelphia 76ers activated guard
John Salmons from the injured list on Wednesday and placed forward Jamal
Mashburn on the IL with patella femoral irritation in his right knee.

Salmons has missed the last five games because of asthmatic bronchitis. In 35
games this season, including eight starts, he is averaging 5.1 points, 2.3
rebounds and 2.3 assists per contest.

Mashburn, who hasn’t stepped on the hardwood since March of 2004, was obtained
by Philadelphia on February 24 along with Rodney Rogers from New Orleans in
exchange for Glenn Robinson. The Hornets placed Mashburn on the injured list
on November 1.

The 32-year-old Mashburn averaged 20.8 points and 6.2 rebounds in 19 games for
New Orleans in 2003-04.
