Cleveland Cavaliers Team Report – March 7

=== Cleveland Cavaliers Team Report – March 7 ===

(Sports Network) – Cleveland’s recent struggles were extended on Sunday
night, as it fell 102-82 to the Eastern Conference-leading Miami Heat at Gund
Arena.

Leading the Cavaliers, who have lost six straight games, was LeBron James with
23 points on 9-of-19 shooting. James is averaging 25.5 points, 7.6 assists,
7.0 rebounds and 2.30 steals per contest.

Zydrunas Ilgauskas contributed 22 points and nine rebounds, while Drew Gooden
came off the bench to record 11 points and 13 boards. Cleveland began its
four-game homestand with a loss — the Cavs’ third in a row at Gund Arena. For
the season, the Cavs fell to 21-8 at Gund Arena.

Cavs rookie forward Anderson Varejao missed his third straight game after
re-injuring his left ankle. He missed 14 consecutive games earlier this
season.

Cleveland may be signing veteran point guard Rod Strickland in the near
future. Strickland, waived last week by Houston, sat in a courtside seat near
Cleveland’s bench for last night’s game.

The Cavaliers have not won February 23 against Chicago at home, falling five
games behind Central leader Detroit. Cleveland remains fifth in the East, but
sits only 2 1/2 games ahead of eighth place Philadelphia.

Cleveland has just two games this week, hosting Orlando (Tuesday) and Indiana
(Sunday). Following the Cavs’ current four-game homestand, they will have five
of seven in foreign buildings.
