Orlando Magic Team Report – March 9

=== Orlando Magic Team Report – March 9 ===

(Sports Network) – The shorthanded Orlando Magic close out their three-game
road trip tonight, when they take on the Toronto Raptors at Air Canada Centre.

Orlando will be without All-Star forward Grant Hill for the second straight
game due to a shin injury. Hill was reportedly kicked in his left shin during
a game against Sacramento last week and has been treated for the injury since.

Orlando came up short in Cleveland on Tuesday, falling 111-92 to the Cavaliers
at Gund Arena. Steve Francis paced Orlando with 21 points. Jameer Nelson
finished with 17 points, six assists and five rebounds for the Magic, who had
a three-game winning streak come to an end. The Magic is 3-3 since Nelson
became a starter.

Francis remains Orlando’s top offensive force, posting 21.6 points per game on
43 percent shooting. The talented guard is also averaging a team-high 6.9
assists (8th-NBA) and six rebounds per contest. Meanwhile, Nelson has tallied
double digits in scoring in six consecutive games since joining the starting
lineup.

Hedo Turkoglu contributed 11 points while Kelvin Cato posted a double-double
with 10 points and 10 boards in a losing cause. The Magic shot 42 percent in
the loss, including 4-of-10 (.400) from three-point range.

Orlando struggled with its ball handling in the contest, committing 17
turnovers which led to 16 Cleveland points. It didn’t help that the Magic
allowed Cleveland to shoot 52.3 percent in the contest.

Orlando, which is in the midst of a three-game road trip, is just 10-20 in
foreign buildings. The Magic has lost six of seven and eight of its last 10
road games.

Following tonight’s contest, Orlando will return home to prepare to face
Minnesota on Friday. The Magic will then close out its week versus New Jersey
at TD Waterhouse Centre on Sunday.
