(Sports Network) – The Utah Jazz host the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday at
the Delta Center. Memphis is 2-0 against Utah this season, giving it a split
in the last six meetings.
Utah, meanwhile, has lost three straight games on the heels of a winning
streak of the same span. On Tuesday the Jazz dropped an 89-83 contest to the
visiting Indiana Pacers.
Mehmet Okur compiled 18 points and 12 rebounds for the Jazz, who are 3-7 in
their last 10 games. Matt Harpring also scored 18 points and Andrei Kirilenko
had 16 in defeat.
Utah will head to the road after Friday’s game, kicking off a five-game trip
Sunday against the defending world champion Detroit Pistons at The Palace of
Auburn Hills. It will be the second and final meeting of the season
between the clubs. On November 13th, the Jazz defeated the Pistons, 108-93,
at the Delta Center.
Detroit guard Carlos Arroyo will be playing his former team for the first time
since being traded. The Pistons acquired Arroyo from the Jazz on January
21st in exchange for center Elden Campbell, who was waived by Utah and later
re-signed with Detroit after a short stint with the New Jersey Nets, and a
future first-round draft pick.
The Jazz, who are a dismal 7-23 as the visitor this season, will also visit
the Cleveland Cavaliers, Indiana, New Jersey and the Washington Wizards on
Okur has scored in double-digits in six of his last seven games. He is
averaging 12.2 points and 5.5 rebounds in his last 10 contests. The 6-11 Okur
has recorded 16 double-doubles this season.
