Larry Brown to miss more time with surgery

Detroit, MI (Sports Network) – The Detroit Pistons will be without head coach
Larry Brown for an indefinite amount of time after he announced on Sunday that
he will be undergoing more hip surgery.

The legendary coach will have surgery on Monday to repair some urinary trouble
he’s experienced since having surgery in November on his artificial hip.

“I don’t know when I will be back,” said Brown, who has been in constant
discomfort since the surgery. “Hopefully it’ll be sooner than later, but I
honestly don’t know.”

Detroit was 2-4 without Brown earlier in the season under assistant Gar Heard,
who will likely man the sidelines again in Brown’s absence starting tonight
against the Atlanta Hawks.

“We know what to do now, even the new guys,” said Chauncey Billups. “We know
how we have to play. I think we will be fine. We know what he wants and how he
wants us to play. We just have to go out take care of our business until he
gets back.”

The defending champion Pistons, who defeated Utah on Sunday, lead the Central
Division by 4 1/2 games over the Cleveland Cavaliers.
