Magic make Davis disappear
Orlando, FL (Sports Network) – The Johnny Davis era is over in Orlando after
the Magic fired their head coach Thursday morning. The move comes on the heels
of Orlando’s season-high sixth straight loss.
General manager John Weisbrod also announced that assistant Chris Jent will
serve as head coach on an interim basis. In addition, the team also released
assistant coach Ron Ekker.
“We will continue to do everything possible to make this team better and feel
at this time that we need a new voice and direction,” Weisbrod said in a
release. “The organization is grateful to Johnny for his work and loyalty, and
I wish he and his family the best.”
The Magic are currently tied for the eighth and final playoff spot in the
Eastern Conference with the Philadelphia 76ers. Both teams are 31-33.
