Memphis Grizzlies Team Report – March 28

=== Memphis Grizzlies Team Report – March 28 ===

(Sports Network) – The Memphis Grizzlies visit the surprising Chicago
Bulls on Monday at the United Center. The Bulls defeated the Grizzlies, 96-88,
on December 15th at FedExForum to snap a three-game series losing streak.

Memphis has lost two of its last three games. The Grizzlies are currently
seventh in the Western Conference — two games behind sixth-place Houston and
one up on eighth-place Denver.

On Saturday, Memphis dropped a 96-85 contest to visiting New Orleans. Rookie
J.R. Smith racked up a career-high 33 points to lead the Hornets to the
victory. Brian Cardinal paced the Grizzlies, who had won four of five coming
in, with 17 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Lorenzen Wright added 12 points
and 12 boards in defeat.

Poor shooting, especially from long range, helped seal the Grizzlies’ fate.
They shot just 39.7 percent from the floor, including a horrid 2-for-17 clip
from beyond the arc.

Memphis returns home on Tuesday to host the Seattle SuperSonics in the third
and final meeting of the regular season between the clubs. The Sonics won a
pair of games from the Grizzlies in November, winning once at KeyArena and
once at FedExForum.

The Grizzlies, who will visit the Milwaukee Bucks on Friday at the Bradley
Center and will host the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday, have 14 games left on
their schedule. Memphis will split its final games of the regular season
evenly between the FedExForum and the road.

Forward Pau Gasol, who returned on March 20th after an extended stay on the
injured list, has averaged just under 18 minutes of action in his three games
since coming off the IL. He has posted 7.7 points and 1.7 rebounds per game
since returning to the court. The 24-year-old forward, who has missed 26 games
this season, leads the Grizzlies in scoring (18.1 ppg) and rebounding (7.7
rpg) this season.
