Cleveland Cavaliers Team Report – March 31

=== Cleveland Cavaliers Team Report – March 31 ===

(Sports Network) – The Cavaliers will try to make up some space in the
Eastern Conference standings this evening, when they take on the Chicago Bulls
at the United Center.

Cleveland resides 1 1/2 contests back of Chicago for the fifth spot, while
owning a 1 1/2-game lead on seventh place Indiana. The Cavs are 2 1/2 games
back of fourth place Washington.

On Tuesday, LeBron James collected 22 points, seven rebounds and five assists
to lead the Cavaliers past the Los Angeles Clippers, 94-84, at Gund Arena.
Zydrunas Ilgauskas contributed 19 points and 15 boards for Cleveland, while
Drew Gooden added 16 points.

Ira Newble rounded out the Cavs’ double-digit scorers with 11 points. Newble
has posted 5.5 points and 2.8 assists per contest this season.

Cleveland is now 3-2 since interim coach Brendan Malone took over for the
fired Paul Silas on March 21.

Tonight James will finish out what has been a stellar month of March for him.
He is averaging 30.1 points per-game in March, the highest mark of any month
this season. For the year, James is posting 26.3 points (4th-NBA), 7.2 assists
(6th), 6.9 rebounds and 2.18 steals (3rd) per contest.

James will likely be limited against the Bulls this evening, as he is
struggling with a sore ankle.

Following tonight’s contest, Cleveland will return home to host the Sacramento
Kings on Friday. The Cavs will remain in their friendly confines against
Dallas on Sunday.
