Indianapolis, IN (Sports Network) – Reggie Miller scored 31 points, including
eight in overtime, as the Indiana Pacers rallied to defeat the Miami Heat,
114-108, at Conseco Fieldhouse. Stephen Jackson, who hit a three-pointer
with two-tenths of a second left in regulation to force overtime, added 29
points for the Pacers, who have won two straight and four of five to pull
within one-half game of the Cleveland Cavaliers for sixth place in the
Eastern Conference playoff race. Anthony Johnson tallied 16 points and 13
assists for Indiana, which used a 12-0 run in overtime to secure the victory.
Dwyane Wade scored a game-high 37 points, grabbed nine rebounds and dished out
six assists for the Heat, who have already clinched the top record in the
Eastern Conference. Damon Jones added 27 points and Shaquille O’Neal had 24
points and 13 boards for Miami, which has dropped three of its last five
games.

Chicago extended its winning streak to eight games by dispatching Cleveland,
102-90, in overtime at the United Center. Antonio Davis netted 17 points,
while Tyson Chandler finished with 15 points and 14 rebounds for the Bulls,
who are now 2 1/2 games ahead of Cleveland for the fifth spot in the
Eastern Conference. Gordon added a season-high eight assists in the win. Drew
Gooden led all scorers with 27 points to go along with 12 rebounds for
Cleveland, which saw its two-game winning streak come to an end. LeBron James
collected 26 points, dished out seven assists and grabbed six rebounds in the
losing effort. His trey as time expired sent the game into the extra session.

Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) – Kevin Garnett led seven players in double
figures with 23 points, as the Minnesota Timberwolves inched closer to a
possible playoff berth with a 105-96 victory over the fading Los Angeles
Lakers at Staples Center. Wally Szczerbiak and Sam Cassell each scored 15
points for Minnesota, which has won five straight and now trails both the
Denver Nuggets and Memphis Grizzlies by two games for the eighth and final
playoff berth in the West. Trenton Hassell added 16 points in the win. Kobe
Bryant scored 26 points for the Lakers, whose playoff hopes continue to
dwindle with their ninth loss in the last 10 overall. Los Angeles, which could
miss the postseason for the first time since 1994, sits 6 1/2 games out. Caron
Butler netted 22 points while Chris Mihm added 11 points and 10 boards in the
loss.
