33 points in the fourth quarter and the Orlando Magic held on for a
103-102 victory over the New Jersey Nets in a game between two teams fighting
for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Francis added seven
rebounds and five assists for Orlando, which pulled within one-half game of
the 76ers for the eighth spot in the East. Nenad Krstic had a career-high 28
points along with 11 rebounds to pace the Nets, who had a three-game win
streak halted. New Jersey, which also got 20 points, 11 rebounds and seven
assists from Jason Kidd, fell a full game out of the eighth spot.

New Orleans, LA (Sports Network) – Dwyane Wade scored 33 points, while
Shaquille O’Neal posted his 42nd double-double of the season as the Miami Heat
easily handled New Orleans 111-99 at New Orleans Arena Saturday. Wade went
11-of-17 from the floor and added nine assists for Miami, which swept the
season series with the Hornets for the first time in franchise history.
O’Neal contributed 34 points and 15 rebounds, while Damon Jones hit six
three-pointers en route to 22 points for the Heat. Leading New Orleans,
which has lost five straight at home, was P.J. Brown with a season-high 21
points on 9-of-14 shooting in 24 minutes off the bench.

Chicago, IL (Sports Network) – Othella Harrington netted 22 points and Eric
Piatkowski poured in 19 off the bench as Chicago extended its season-best win
streak to nine games with a 112-97 victory over Charlotte at the United
Center. Chris Duhon scored a career-high 17 points and Tyson Chandler had
12 along with 15 rebounds for the Bulls, who moved within a half game of
fourth-place Washington in the Eastern Conference playoff race. Emeka
Okafor posted game-highs of 28 points and 16 rebounds for the Bobcats, who
have dropped four in a row.

San Antonio, TX (Sports Network) – Brent Barry’s layup with six seconds left
lifted the San Antonio Spurs to a 95-94 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers.
Barry had a team-high 20 points while Tony Parker added 17 points, six
rebounds and nine assists. The Spurs, who swept the four-game season series
with Los Angeles for the second time in three years, have won five straight
meetings and nine of its last 12 games with the Lakers. Caron Butler had a
game-high 27 points for the Lakers, who have lost seven straight road tilts.

Portland, OR (Sports Network) – Carmelo Anthony scored 23 points and Denver
put together a strong fourth quarter to come away with a 103-97 victory over
Portland at the Rose Garden. Earl Boykins contributed 17 points for the
Nuggets, who strung together a 14-0 run to erase a three-point deficit with
under seven minutes remaining. Denver, which has won three straight and
nine of 10, received 16 points and seven assists from Andre Miller in the
triumph. With the win the surging Nuggets moved a half-game in front of
Memphis for seventh place in the Western Conference playoff race. Damon
Stoudamire racked up 27 points and Shareef Abdur-Rahim compiled 20 points
and eight rebounds for the Trail Blazers, who have dropped four in a row
and 11 of 12. Rookie Sebastian Telfair established a career-high with 10
assists and finished with 16 points.
