(Sports Network) – Toronto will try to play spoiler this evening, when it
takes on the playoff hopeful Memphis Grizzlies at Air Canada Centre.
The Raptors have lost three of their last four games, including a 113-103
defeat to the Detroit Pistons at home on Sunday. Jalen Rose and Morris
Peterson each had 22 points in the losing effort.
Chris Bosh added 18 points and nine rebounds, while Rafer Alston tacked on 15
points in the contest. Matt Bonner posted nine points and five rebounds in the
Bosh has become the Raptors’ go-to-guy as of late, tallying at least 16 points
in six consecutive games. The talented post player leads the Raptors in
rebounding (8.9 rpg) and blocked shots (1.9 bpg), while sitting second in
scoring (16.7 ppg).
Toronto shot 42.5 percent from the field, including 11-of-27 (.407) from
three-point range. Toronto has hit at least one three-pointer in 523 straight
games, the longest such streak in the NBA.
The Raptors hit 24-of-31 (.774) from the free throw line. Toronto was
outrebounded 41-34 in the loss, while limiting its turnovers to eight.
The Raptors, who have dropped their last two home tilts, are 21-14 in their
friendly confines. Toronto will be playing the middle contest of a three-game
homestand this evening.
Memphis registered an 86-75 win over the Raptors at FedExForum on March 4. The
Grizzlies have won four straight meetings in this series.
Following tonight’s game, Toronto will have a day off before facing the
Atlanta Hawks at home on Friday. The Raptors will finish up their week against
Chicago at the United Center on Saturday.
