Orlando Magic Team Report – April 6

=== Orlando Magic Team Report – April 6 ===

(Sports Network) – The fading Orlando Magic will try to remain in the thick
of the playoff race this evening, when they battle the Chicago Bulls at TD
Waterhouse Centre.

Orlando has lost two of its last three and 12 of its last 16, including a
114-105 defeat to Dallas at AmericanAirlines Center on Tuesday night. DeShawn
Stevenson poured in a career-high 29 points for Orlando, which trails
Philadelphia by 1 1/2 games for the final playoff spot in the Eastern
Conference.

Stevenson has been making the most of his extended playing time as of late,
tallying double-digits in seven consecutive games. The talented guard is
posting 19.1 points per contest during the stretch.

Jameer Nelson recorded 18 points in the losing effort, while Steve Francis
tallied 16 points and 11 assists. Tony Battie rounded out Orlando’s double-
digit scorers with 14 points.

The Magic were shorthanded as All-Star forward Grant Hill missed the contest
due to a sore left shin. Hill won’t play tonight and is listed as day-to-day.

Orlando shot 53.2 percent from the field, including 6-of-12 (.500) from three-
point range. The Magic hit 15-of-22 (.682) from the free throw line, while
committing 14 turnovers.

The Magic, who are starting a three-game homestand tonight, are 23-13 in their
friendly confines this season. Orlando has split its last four contests at TD
Waterhouse Centre.

Following tonight’s game, the Magic will have a day off before hosting the
Detroit Pistons on Friday. Orlando won’t play again after that until Monday
versus Cleveland.
