National Basketball Association Playoff Game Capsules

Boston, MA (Sports Network) – Stephen Jackson scored 24 points and the Indiana
Pacers pounded the Boston Celtics, 97-70, to clinch the Eastern Conference
quarterfinal series in the deciding seventh game at the FleetCenter. The
sixth-seeded Pacers won three of their four games in Boston in the series and
will take on No. 2 seed Detroit in the conference semifinals. The upcoming
series pits the same two teams that were involved in a notorious brawl earlier
this season. The series will begin Monday night at the Palace of Auburn Hills,
the building where the melee occurred back in November. Jermaine O’Neal
collected 15 points, seven rebounds and six assists for the Pacers, who were
playing in their first Game 7 since losing to the Chicago Bulls in the 1998
conference semis. Antoine Walker had 20 points and Paul Pierce added 19 for
the Celtics, who were bounced out of the opening round of the playoffs by
Indiana for the second straight season. Saturday’s loss was the biggest home
loss in a Game 7 in NBA history.

Final Score: Dallas 116, Houston 76

Dallas, TX (Sports Network) – Jason Terry finished with 31 points and Josh
Howard posted 21 points and 11 rebounds, as the Dallas Mavericks clinched
their Western Conference quarterfinal series against Houston with an easy
116-76 victory over the Rockets in Game 7 at the AmericanAirlines Center.
The Mavericks became just the third team in NBA history to win a best-of-seven
series after losing the first two games at home. The others were the Los
Angeles Lakers in 1969 and the Rockets in 1994. Dallas will now take on the
top-seeded Phoenix Suns in the conference semifinals. The series will start on
Monday night in Phoenix. Dirk Nowitzki had 14 points and 14 boards for the
Mavericks. The 40-point margin was also the largest Game 7 spread in NBA
history. Yao Ming recorded 33 points and 10 rebounds in the loss and Tracy
McGrady collected 27 points, seven rebounds and seven assists. McGrady has
still never won a playoff series in his career.
