Nuggets coach Karl suspended; team fined

New York, NY (Sports Network) – Denver Nuggets head coach George Karl was
suspended three games and his team fined $200,000 by the National Basketball
Association on Friday for violating league draft rules.

Karl was reprimanded for attending several workouts at Marquette University on
May 16-18 that involved a player ineligible for the June 28 draft.

He will serve his suspension during the first three games of the 2005-06

“George made an innocent mistake but we take full responsibility for these
actions,” said Nuggets general manager Kiki Vandeweghe. “The Denver Nuggets
fully respect league rules and regulations and we regret any inadvertent
violation that occurred.”
