Dwyane Wade will play in Game 7
Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade will play in Monday’s Game 7 of the Eastern Conference finals against the Detroit Pistons, according to his father.
“I don’t care if he’s not 100 percent; even if he’s only 30 percent, he will contribute,” Dwyane Wade Sr. told the Palm Beach Post. “My word on it. He will play. He definitely will be in Game 7. I’m positive. That’s my son; shouldn’t I know?”
Wade, who sat out Saturday’s 91-66 loss, sustained a rib injury in Game 5 on Thursday. He went down in the second half of the 88-76 win, but the Heat already had a big lead and held on for the triumph.
The 23-year-old superstar participated in pre-game warm-ups on Saturday, but couldn’t shake the nagging rib problem. Rasual Butler took his place and had 13 points for the Heat, who compiled an all-time franchise playoff low in points.
In 13 playoff games this season, Wade is averaging 28 points, 6.1 rebounds and 6.8 assists. If he does play Monday, Heat spokesman Tim Donovan said that Wade will wear a protective vest.MIA
