Person hired as assistant coach of the Pacers

Indianapolis, IN (Sports Network) – The Indiana Pacers announced Tuesday the
hiring of Chuck Person as an assistant to head coach Rick Carlisle.

Person, who had spent the last three years with Indiana as a special assistant
to the basketball division, fills the void created when Mike Brown left to
take over the head coaching duties of the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Person was selected by the Pacers in the first round (fourth overall) of the
1986 NBA Draft and captured the league’s Rookie of the Year award for the
1986-87 campaign.

He averaged 19 points per contest during his six years with Indiana and played
a total of 13 NBA seasons before retiring in 2000.
