Jason Collins undergoes surgery
East Rutherford, NJ (Sports Network) – New Jersey Nets center Jason Collins
underwent successful arthroscopic right knee surgery.
The procedure, which was performed by Dr. Richard Ferkel, removed torn
cartilage in Collins’ knee. Collins is now expected to undergo up to 10 weeks
of rehabilitation, but is likely to be ready for the start of October’s
Collins averaged 6.4 points and 6.1 rebounds with New Jersey last season. The
7-0 Collins, who went to Stanford, has spent his entire four-year NBA career
in East Rutherford and has posted 5.6 points and 4.9 boards in 316 games.
