Nets pick up Vaughn’s option
East Rutherford, NJ (Sports Network) – The New Jersey Nets announced Wednesday
that the club has exercised the option on guard Jacque Vaughn’s contract.
Vaughn, who signed with the Nets as a free agent last July, averaged 5.3
points and 1.9 assists in 71 games (34 starts) this past year. The eight-year
veteran missed the final eight games of the regular season as well as the
playoffs after breaking his right foot on April 2.
“We were very pleased with Jacque’s performance last season,” said team
president Rod Thorn. “He adds needed depth to our point guard position and is
a valued member of our team.”
Vaughn has career averages of 5.0 points and 2.7 assists in 528 games with
Utah, Atlanta, Orlando and the Nets.
