Portland, OR (Sports Network) – The Portland Trail Blazers announced Saturday
that the team has signed rookie swingman Martell Webster to a multi-year
contract.

Webster, who was chosen with the sixth overall pick in the 2005 NBA Draft, was
the first high school player selected after he helped lead Seattle (WA) Prep
to a 19-5 record this past season.

The 6-7 Webster poured in 27.7 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and added two
assists per game during his senior year, while being named as a finalist for
the Naismith Award, which is given to the top high schooler in the country.

Webster, 18, who was selected as to the All-America First Team, will
participate in Portland’s Summer League, which begins on July 6.
