Pistons sign draft pick Maxiell
Auburn Hills, MI (Sports Network) – The Detroit Pistons signed first-round
draft pick Jason Maxiell to a multi-year contract Thursday. Terms of the deal
were not released.
Maxiell was selected 26th by the Pistons in last month’s draft following four
successful years at Cincinnati. He averaged 15.3 points, 7.7 rebounds and 2.8
blocked shots with the Bearcats.
“We are very happy to have Jason signed,” said Joe Dumars, president of
basketball operations for the Eastern Conference-champion Pistons. “Jason will
provide added depth off our bench and we expect him to be a great addition to
our basketball team.”
As a 6-foot-7 power forward with long arms, Maxiell is considered a good shot
blocker with tremendous athletic ability. He led Conference-USA in blocked
shots during his senior season.
