Pistons pick up option on Darko Milicic

Auburn Hills, MI (Sports Network) – The Detroit Pistons have exercised the
team option on center Darko Milicic on Thursday, extending his contract
through the 2006-07 season.

“We are pleased to have Darko Milicic signed through the 2006-07 season and we
look forward to seeing his continued growth as a player,” said President of
Basketball Operations Joe Dumars. “Darko was able to play a lot of minutes
during the summer league this July and we are happy that he is on Serbia-
Montenegro’s roster during the European Championship’s this September.

The 20-year-old Milicic, the second overall pick in the 2003 NBA draft,
averaged just 1.6 points per game to go along with 1.2 rebounds in 71 career
games with the Pistons.
