Knicks ink Jerome James
New York, NY (Sports Network) – The New York Knicks have signed free
agent center Jerome James. Although terms of the deal were not released, it is
believed to be a five-year contract worth, $30 million.
James started a career-high 80 games last season for the SuperSonics and
averaged 4.9 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.39 blocks. James, though, played well
in the postseason and scored 17.2 points, while grabbing 9.4 boards a game in
Seattle’s first-round win over Sacramento.
For his career, the 29-year-old 7-footer has scored 4.9 points with 3.5
rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 268 games with the Sonics and Kings, who picked him
in the second round of the 1998 draft.
