Magic ink guard Dooling
Orlando, FL (Sports Network) – The Orlando Magic made the signing of free-
agent guard Keyon Dooling official on Wednesday.
“Keyon brings additional athleticism to our team,” said assistant general
manager Otis Smith. “He adds the depth we needed in our backcourt and even
more versatility to our roster. We’re happy to add Keyon to our team.”
Dooling, who averaged 5.2 points per game while dishing out 1.8 assists last
season with the Miami Heat, saw action in 74 games last season. However, he
played mostly in a reserve role behind star guard Dwyane Wade and Damon Jones.
Orlando originally drafted Dooling in 2000, but he was traded on draft day to
the Los Angeles Clippers along with Corey Maggette and Derek Strong.
A product of the University of Missouri, Dooling played four seasons with the
Clippers and mostly saw time off the bench.
For his career, Dooling has averaged 5.8 points and 2.0 assists per game.
