Heat’s Person casualty of amnesty clause

Miami, FL (Sports Network) – The Miami Heat on Monday designated the contract
of forward Wesley Person for the amnesty clause.

According to the new NBA Collective Bargaining Agreement, each team will be
permitted to waive one “amnesty” player on or before August 15, 2005 and to
remove that player’s salary from its payroll for purposes of computing its tax
payment for the 2005-06 season and any future seasons for which the player was
under contract.

The Heat requested waivers on Person, who spent the 2005 season with Miami and
Denver, on March 1. A product of Auburn, Person has a career average of 11.2
ppg while to go along with 3.3 rpg with Phoenix, Cleveland, Memphis, Portland,
Atlanta, the Heat and the Nuggets.
