Dallas, TX (Sports Network) – The Dallas Mavericks have re-signed veteran
point guard Darrell Armstrong to a one-year contract. Financial terms of the
deal were not disclosed.

“He had a lot of choices,” Armstrong’s agent Glen Schwartzman told the Dallas
Morning News. “He felt this was the best situation to try to compete and win a
championship.”

Armstrong, who was acquired by the Mavericks in December from New Orleans,
appeared in 52 games for Dallas last season and averaged 2.3 points and 2.2
assists.

The 37-year-old Armstrong, who will be entering his 12th NBA season, spent
the first nine years of his career with Orlando and has career averages of
10.8 points, 4.7 assists and 3.1 boards in 647 games.

Armstrong was the NBA’s Most Improved Player, as well as the league’s Sixth
Man of the Year in 1999.
