Kapono signs with Heat

Miami, FL (Sports Network) – The Miami Heat announced Monday that the club has
signed restricted free agent forward Jason Kapono.

The Charlotte Bobcats declined to match the offer sheet Miami signed Kapono to
on September 30.

Kapono, who will be entering his third season, averaged 8.5 points and 2.0
rebounds in 81 games last season for the Bobcats, who selected the former UCLA
standout in the 2004 expansion draft. The 24-year-old owns a 42.4 percent
career success rate from three-point range.

A second-round draft choice by Cleveland in 2003, Kapono has averaged 6.8
points and 1.8 rebounds in 15.7 minutes per game during his two-year career.

Also Monday, the Heat announced the signing of forward Darius Rice and guard
Kevin Braswell.
