Celtics release Borchardt

Boston, MA (Sports Network) – The Boston Celtics announced Thursday that
they have waived center Curtis Borchardt.

Borchardt, 25, was initially selected in the first round (18th overall) of the
2002 NBA draft by the Orlando Magic, who then traded his rights to the Utah
Jazz.

He missed the entire 2002-03 season after having surgery for a right foot
injury, and in the 2003-04 campaign, he only played 16 games due to several
injuries.

In 83 career games, including 23 starts, all with the Jazz, he has averages of
3.1 points and 3.3 rebounds in 13.5 minutes per game.
