Autopsy indicates Collier had enlarged heart

Atlanta, GA (Sports Network)- An autopsy performed on Jason Collier showed an
enlarged heart contributed to the death of the Atlanta Hawks center.

Dr. Kris Sperry, Chief Medical Examiner for the State of Georgia, said Tuesday
that Collier’s heart was “enlarged and abnormal” and that Collier died of
sudden cardiac rhythm disturbance.

Collier passed away on October 15 at the age of 28. The Georgia Tech product
played his first three seasons in the NBA with Houston, averaging 3.5 points
and 2.4 boards in 61 games.

Collier, who was selected 15th overall by Milwaukee in the 2000 NBA Draft,
played a career-high 70 games (44 starts) last season and posted 5.7 points
and 2.6 rebounds per contest.
