Nuggets F Russell has surgery

Denver, CO (Sports Network) – Denver Nuggets forward Bryon Russell had surgery
Friday morning on his injured right knee and is expected to miss almost five
months of action.

Nuggets physician Dr. Steve Traina performed the arthroscopic microfracture
procedure on Russell, who sustained a medial meniscus tear during training

The veteran Russell appeared in 70 games with the Nuggets last year, starting
just two, and averaged 4.4 points and 2.5 rebounds. He played the 2003-04
campaign with the Lakers and averaged 4.0 points and 2.0 rebounds in 72 games.

Russell spent the first nine years of his NBA career with the Utah Jazz before
playing the 2002-03 season with the Washington Wizards. In 840 career games,
Russell has averaged 7.9 points, 3.5 boards and 1.3 assists.
