O’Neal sidelined with ankle injury
Miami, FL (Sports Network) – Miami Heat center Shaquille O’Neal went down with
an ankle injury during Thursday’s loss to Indiana and is expected to be
sidelined for at least two weeks.

With 6:35 remaining in the 105-102 loss against the Pacers, O’Neal landed
awkwardly on his right ankle while going for a rebound and remained on the
court for a few minutes.
O’Neal, a nine-time All-Star, was helped off the floor and taken to the locker
room by team trainers. He was diagnosed with a sprained right ankle, and x-
rays taken in the locker room were negative.
“He’s probably going to miss some time the way he was walking on it,” Heat
head coach Stan Van Gundy said after the game. “He seemed like he was in some
pain and obviously disappointed because he wants to play.”
Selected in 1996 as one of the 50 Greatest Players in NBA history, O’Neal is
averaging 15 points and six rebounds in two games this season. The three-time
NBA champion and league MVP in 1999-2000 is in his second season with Miami.
