New York, NY (Sports Network) – Jason Richardson had 24 points and five
rebounds to guide the Golden State Warriors over the New York Knicks, 83-81,
at Madison Square Garden. Troy Murphy netted 17 points and pulled down 10
rebounds and Baron Davis had 16 points, nine assists and six rebounds for
the Warriors, who have won two out of three to start the season. Stephon
Marbury had 15 points and six assists and David Lee, playing in his first
game, had eight points and 10 rebounds off the bench for the Knicks, who
have lost three straight to start the season and have yet to win a game
under new head coach Larry Brown.

Phoenix, AZ (Sports Network) – Shareef Abdur-Rahim scored 23 points and made
two free throws with 13.3 seconds remaining to lift Sacramento to a wild
118-117 victory over Phoenix at America West Arena. Abdur-Rahim added 12
rebounds and seven assists while Peja Stojakovic poured in 33 points,
including 23 in the third quarter, as the Kings earned their first win of
the season after road defeats to the Hornets and Rockets to start the year.
Mike Bibby chipped in 19 points and Brad Miller compiled 17 points, 10
rebounds and eight assists in the triumph. Leandro Barbosa scored 12 of his
team-best 23 points in the fourth quarter to help the Suns rally from a 13-
point deficit with nine minutes left to play. His three-pointer with 21.5
seconds left gave Phoenix a 117-116 lead. On the ensuing possession, Abdur-
Rahim grabbed the rebound of his own miss and was fouled by Kurt Thomas.
He calmly sank both bonus attempts to put Sacramento back in front.
Steve Nash had 18 points and 13 assists while Boris Diaw nearly had a triple-
double with 11 points, 11 assists and nine rebounds for Phoenix, which had won
two in a row after a season-opening loss to Dallas.

Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) – Kobe Bryant racked up 37 points and Chris
Mihm had 20 along with a game-high 13 rebounds, as the Los Angeles Lakers
posted a 112-92 victory over Denver at the Staples Center. Lamar Odom also
finished with 20 points to help the Lakers top the Nuggets for the second
time in five days. Los Angeles opened its 2005-06 season Wednesday with a
99-97 overtime win at Denver in Phil Jackson’s return to the bench. Carmelo
Anthony scored 21 points and Andre Miller netted 20 for the Nuggets, who
have dropped three of four to start the year. Kenyon Martin recorded 17
points in the loss.
