Nene undergoes surgery on knee

Denver, CO (Sports Network) – Denver Nuggets forward Nene had successful
surgery performed on his right knee Monday.

The former first-round pick tore the anterior cruciate ligament, medial
collateral ligament and the lateral meniscus in the knee during the first
quarter of the Nuggets’ season-opening 102-91 loss at San Antonio on November
1. He banged knees with the Spurs’ Tim Duncan on a baseline drive.

Nene is expected to make a full recovery but is doubtful to return to action
this season.

The 23-year-old Brazilian has spent all four of his NBA seasons with Denver
and has averaged 10.7 points and 6.2 rebounds over 213 career games. In 55
games in 2004-05, Nene contributed 9.6 points and 5.9 rebounds per contest.
