‘Melo sprains ankle in first quarter

Denver, CO (Sports Network) – Denver Nuggets guard Carmelo Anthony suffered a
left ankle sprain in the opening stages of Monday’s 101-92 loss to New
Jersey and did not return.

Anthony hurt himself 1:30 into the contest when he was fouled by the Nets’
Nenad Krstic. After a Nuggets’ timeout, he went to the free throw line and
made both shots before limping off to the locker room.

X-rays on the ankle proved to be negative, and it is unclear whether Anthony
will miss any additional games.

The third-year standout entered Monday’s matchup averaging 21.6 points, 6.0
rebounds and 3.1 assists per game this season.
