Nuggets try to pick up a win in Orlando

(Sports Network) – The Denver Nuggets play the second contest of a six-game
road trip when they visit the struggling Orlando Magic tonight at TD
Waterhouse Centre.

This is the first of two meetings between the clubs this season. The Nuggets
are scheduled to host Orlando on March 4, 2006 at the Pepsi Center.

The Magic have won two of three and 14 of the last 16 meetings in this series.

Denver has lost 12 straight at Orlando. The last time the Nuggets defeated the
Magic on the road was on March 10, 1992.

The Nuggets come into tonight’s game on a three-game winning streak. On
Friday, Carmelo Anthony poured in a season-high 40 points, as Denver rallied
from a late fourth-quarter deficit to post a 100-92 win over the Miami Heat at
AmericanAirlines Arena.

Marcus Camby finished with 18 points and 12 rebounds in the win over the Heat
for Denver, while Greg Buckner poured in 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds
for the Nuggets, who closed the game on a 12-0 run.

The Nuggets are 3-6 on the road this season. Denver will also visit Charlotte,
Cleveland, New Jersey and Atlanta on the current swing.

Orlando has dropped five straight games and will closeout a three-game
homestand. On Wednesday, Jannero Pargo scored a season-high 23 points, as
Chicago’s bench boosted the Bulls to a 102-93 victory over the Magic at TD
Waterhouse Centre.

Dwight Howard led the Magic with 17 points and 16 boards in the loss to
Chicago, while Steve Francis contributed 16 points and six assists before
fouling out for Orlando, which has lost seven of its last 11 games overall.
Tony Battie added a season-high 14 points and grabbed eight rebounds and Hedo
Turkoglu netted 12 in the loss.

On the injury front, Orlando center Kelvin Cato (ankle) is doubtful for
tonight’s game. He did not play against the Bulls.

The Magic are 4-6 as the host this season. They have lost two in a row at
home.
