Sacramento, CA (Sports Network) – The Sacramento Kings announced that forward
Shareef Abdur-Rahim will miss a significant amount of time due to a broken

Abdur-Rahim met with oral surgeon Dr. Brian Royse on Tuesday and a decision on
what will be done to repair the injury is expected on Wednesday. No timetable
has been set for his return.

The 29-year-old Abdur-Rahim suffered the injury during the third quarter of
the Kings’ 105-92 loss against the Portland Trail Blazers on Monday. He scored
18 points and had four rebounds in over 37 minutes of action against the

Abdur-Rahim, one of the most coveted free agents available during the
offseason before signing with Sacramento, is averaging 16.5 points while
shooting a career-high 54.7 percent from the floor this season.

He had started the first 27 games of the year before missing Tuesday’s 110-93
win over the Los Angeles Clippers.

The 10-year NBA veteran has scored 20 or more points in seven games and has
posted three double-doubles this season. Abdur-Rahim was the third overall
selection by Vancouver in the 1996 NBA Draft.

An All-Star in 2002, Abdur-Rahim averaged 16.8 points and 7.3 boards in 54
games with Portland last season.
