Mavs host Blazers

(Sports Network) – The Portland Trail Blazers attempt to put the brakes on a
two-game losing streak when they visit the Dallas Mavericks at American
Airlines Center.

The home team has won 11 of 16 and 17 of the last 24 meetings in this series,
while the Mavericks has won six straight and seven of the last eight meetings.
The Trail Blazers have lost four straight at Dallas.

Portland opens a three-game road trip this evening. On Sunday, Cuttino Mobley
scored 23 points and Sam Cassell had 22 for the Los Angeles Clippers, who held
off the Trail Blazers for a 100-94 victory at the Rose Garden.

Juan Dixon recorded 24 points and Zach Randolph had 18 along with 11 rebounds
in the loss to the Clippers for the Trail Blazers, who cut a 14-point fourth-
quarter deficit down to two before eventually faltering.

On the injury front for Portland, guard Sebastian Telfair (thumb) is
questionable for tonight’s game. The 6-0 point guard last played on December
14th at Utah and has missed nine straight contests with the injury.

The Trail Blazers, who will also visit San Antonio and New Orleans/Oklahoma
City, are 4-11 as the visitor this season.

Dallas will try and win its second straight game. On Saturday, Dirk Nowitzki
had 24 points, 10 rebounds and five assists to lead the Mavericks past the
Hornets, 95-90, at the Ford Center.

Josh Howard had 20 points and seven rebounds, while Jason Terry netted 20
points in the win over New Orleans/Oklahoma City for the Mavericks, who have
won four of their last five games overall.

The Mavericks are 11-4 as the host this season. They are 4-1 in their last
five at American Airlines Center.
