Wade returns to lead Miami past Portland

Portland, OR (Sports Network) – Dwyane Wade returned to the lineup and had 31
points, seven assists and five rebounds to lead Miami past Portland, 118-89,
at the Rose Garden.

Jason Williams added 20 points and eight assists for the Heat, who put an end
to a two-game losing streak. Antoine Walker added 16 points while Shaquille
O’Neal and James Posey each scored 12 in the win.

Wade, who had missed Friday’s game against Phoenix with a shin injury, was
13-of-17 from the floor and added six steals.

Ruben Patterson had 16 points and Zach Randolph chipped in 14 for the Trail
Blazers, who have lost six straight games.

“Tonight it was obvious that we looked for someone to rescue us or someone to
blame. But the message won’t change,” said Portland head coach Nate McMillan.
“When you don’t compete you are quitting on each other and quitting on the
organization. Maybe we just have the wrong pieces. We may just have to change
lineups around, just to get the spark back, get someone in there to give us
some fire.”

Miami led 35-29 after one quarter and opened the second period with a 15-6
spurt to grab a 15-point lead. Walker had five points during the flurry and
Wayne Simien’s basket with just under eight minutes left capped the run and
made it 50-35.

The Heat maintained a comfortable cushion throughout the quarter and took a
64-51 lead into the locker room.

Miami did not let up at all in the second half and led by as many as 32 points
in the final quarter.
