Lakers, Warriors meet up in Oakland
(Sports Network) – The struggling Golden State Warriors attempt to put the
brakes on a four-game losing streak tonight, as they welcome the Los Angeles
Lakers to The Arena in Oakland.
Golden State plays the opener of a three-game homestand. On Thursday, Shawn
Marion led a balanced Phoenix attack with 21 points and 12 rebounds, as the
Suns led wire-to-wire and defeated the Warriors, 112-99, at US Airways Center.
Two-time All-Star Baron Davis finished with 22 points and seven assists in the
for the Warriors, who have lost nine of their last 12 games overall. Mike
Dunleavy ended with 15 points, nine boards and five assists in defeat.
The Warriors, who will also host Seattle and Cleveland on the current stand,
are 9-9 at The Arena this season. However, they have dropped two straight and
six of their last seven at home.
Los Angeles will try and win its second straight game. Kobe Bryant poured in
27 points and hit the winning jumper with 8.6 seconds remaining to lead the
Lakers over the Cleveland Cavaliers, 99-98, at the Staples Center.
Lamar Odom added 20 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists and Chris Mihm
finished with 15 points in the win over Cleveland for the Lakers, who have won
four of their last five contests overall.
Bryant has scored more than 20 points in 26 straight contests. The seven-time
All-Star is averaging 40.7 points in his last 10 outings.
The Lakers are 10-9 on the road this season. They have dropped four of their
last five as the visitor.
