Nuggets’ Camby eyes return to hardwood

Denver, CO (Sports Network) – The Denver Nuggets expect Marcus Camby to
return to action against the Los Angeles Clippers for a home-and-home series
on Friday and Saturday.

Camby’s status remains day-to-day based on his progress and he is a game-time
decision for Wednesday’s contest at Portland.

The UMass product has been sidelined for just under a month, missing 14 games
with a broken pinkie finger on his right hand. The center recently had
surgically implanted pins removed from his finger to help quicken his return.

“I expect to be playing this week,” Camby said on the team’s website. “I might
be a little rusty, I haven’t played for over a month, but I’ll get right back
out there and pick up where I left off.”

Before getting injured, Camby averaged 16.3 ppg and a league-leading 12.9 rpg.
He still ranks second in the NBA in blocked shots per contest (3.12).

Nuggets coach George Karl said he expects Camby to play about 25 minutes a
game when he returns.
